Another Day in NZ

Yesterday we walked around the park here that over looks the fresh water lake. This town is so neat, clean, and beautiful and the environment is a lot more laid back. I feel like I'm repeating myself, but pictures or words cannot describe this place. We walked around and did a little shopping in town. I bought a straightener at a beauty shop that wasn't actually too expensive. However, Make-up here is EXTREMELY expensive. OPI nail polish is $25 and a cheap bottle of mascara is $35. Tax is included in the overall price. Looks like if I run out of makeup I would just be out of luck. Everything here is a lot more expensive! It does make it a little better that the exchange rate is $0.80 to the NZ $1.00. I wish the weather was a little warmer. I shouldn't complain because it feels so nice compared to Minnesota and it feels hot when the sun comes out, it just doesn't get extremely warm like I'm going to experience in Australia. Our condo is really sweet! it is in the center of town and we can walk to practically everything we need to. The grocery store and the liquor store are just a block away(mom, cover your ears:) ). This afternoon we are planning on going up the mountain on the gondola and eating at a restaurant on the top of the mountain. Then we plan on hiking up another mountain.  They say it takes about 8 hours to hike up it. This will hopefully be pretty sweet:)

WE MADE IT!

Finally made it to NZ! The flight in was absolutely stunning. Coolest flight I have ever experienced. From LA we flew into AK and we had to drag our suit cases for about a 10-12 minute walk. My wheel broke on one of my suit cases so I had to drag my almost 50 lb suit case on one hand and my other suit case on the other. It was hell. We missed our connecting flight to Queenstown, but we got booked on a flight an hour later. We did not have to wait long at all in the AK airport. When we flew into Queenstown it looked like I was flying straight into a fairy tale. Absolutely Stunning!

That is a fresh water lake, not ocean. It is awesome!

We went to a few bars last night and it was a lot of fun. I don't think I ever want to leave this place.

Today we are going to go grab a bite to eat at Fergbergers (a supposedly really good restaurant in town) and then heading out to explore the town some more.

Stuck In LA

I packed and headed to the airport this afternoon at 2:00. I had two bags packed and really nervous they were over 50 lbs. I get to the airport to check my bags and, just my luck, the scale was broken so I did not have to pay any extra money. The guy checking my baggage, picked it up and said "OHH YEAH, wayyy over 50!" That made me really nervous for my connecting flights. When I got to LA, I had to pick up my bags from the Sun Country terminal and had to check them into Quantas. I was nervous to see how much they weighed and trying to plan out back up plans if both were over 50. Luckily they were perfect weight, but we came to find out that our flight is delayed a few more hours which means we probably won't make our connecting flight in NZ. We landed here at 6:00 LA time and aren't leaving until  1:00 am. (3:00 am Minnesota time). I have a long flight ahead of me!

And I am off to go get me one of these annoying creatures! :) This is where I will be blogging for the next five months through my travels to New Zealand, Sydney, Cairns, and then off to school in Fremantal.
